Get ready for some travel disruptions in Sydney! A major police operation is about to impact your commute.
Sydney CBD and Eastern Suburbs Travel Alert:
Road closures will be implemented in the heart of Sydney and its Eastern suburbs from Sunday, February 8th, to Thursday, February 12th, due to a scheduled police operation. This is a heads-up for all motorists and commuters!
Monday, February 9th, is a day to watch out for: Transport operations might change unexpectedly, and traffic delays are expected in the afternoon. So, if you're planning to travel in and around the CBD on Monday afternoon, consider rescheduling if it's not essential.
Special event clearways will be active: These will be in place across the city and at various local council spots. Pay close attention to parking signs to avoid any unpleasant surprises. You don't want to come back to find your car missing!
Buses will be affected: Some bus routes will divert from their usual paths during the road closures. Passengers, take note! Signage will guide you at closed bus stops.
Circular Quay Buses: From Sunday noon to Thursday afternoon, buses normally serving Circular Quay will temporarily start and end their journeys at Martin Place. Here's the twist: buses heading to the city will terminate at Elizabeth St Stand C, while those leaving the city will depart from Elizabeth St Stand E. This affects routes 304, 333, 343, 392N, and 396. Passengers can use light rail or trains to bridge the gap between Martin Place and Circular Quay during this period.
Bondi Beach and Queens Park Detours: On Monday morning, February 9th, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, Routes 333 and 380 will detour around closures in Bondi Beach, skipping stops on Campbell Parade between North and South Bondi. And on Tuesday, February 10th, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, Route 356 will bypass some stops along Queens Park Rd.
Plan Ahead: Check your travel plans at transportnsw.info or through the Opal Travel App to stay informed. Keep an eye on livetraffic.com for real-time traffic updates and special event clearway details.
But here's where it gets controversial: How do you feel about these temporary disruptions? Are they a necessary inconvenience for the greater good, or could there be a better way to manage such operations without impacting daily commutes so heavily? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
