The malware installed by the attack gathered detailed system information, including network connections, hardware specs, running processes, and user privileges. This data was then saved and exfiltrated through anonymous file-sharing services, potentially compromising the privacy and security of targeted users. Version 8.8.9, released in December, introduced digital signature and certificate checks before installing updates.
